Swimmer's Ear

Swimmer's Ear
Preventing swimmer's ear is actually quite simple. Put one or two drops of white vinegar into each ear after they swim. The bacteria in the water that causes swimmers ear cannot grow in this acid environment.

There have actually been many concoctions for this.  2 in particular: first was equal parts of vinegar, rubbing alcohol and water and put a few drops in each year after they swim. But that was excessive. The second was equal parts of vinegar and rubbing alcohol, supposedly the rubbing alcohol help to evaporate the water that was in there. but if there’s any abrasion, the rubbing alcohol will burn.

The old treatment for swimmers' ear before we had antibiotic eardrops was a medicine called VoSol. It was nothing more than half strength vinegar. You would fill up the ear canal with the 1/2 Strength vinegar, put in a piece of cotton and keep the cotton saturated with the 1/2 vinegar.  then four drops into the infected ear four times a day for one week and that will take care of the swimmers ear.

And that’s it folks. In summary one drop of vinegar into each ear after swimming and no more swimmers ear. Kind of like the old adage, an apple a day keeps the doctor away
